The Attacker (est. 1978) and Lions F.C (est. 1982) are two teams with a storied and passionate history. In fact this rivalry can only be compared with the Cavilers and Black Pool of the 1970’s. A jog down memory lane recalls a polarized crowd and numerous arguments between players from both teams. Sunday’s match between the Attackers and Lions was filled with all the tension, passion and importance that characterized all previous matches. Both teams displayed strong defenses that countered any attacks from the aggressor. The Attackers were close to opening the scoring during the first half but some determined goal keeping and experienced defending by Nigel “Neko” Connor kept the ball out of the net.
Seven minutes into the second half, Addi John (10) of the Attackers found the back of the net with an elementary tap in. In the 92nd minute Presley Boyd confirmed the Attackers advantage with a thunderous right footer, and plunged the Lions into further despair. Two missed opportunities by Roaring Lions forward, Jaden Abbot could have made the difference. The end result was Attackers 2, Lions 0.
