Sunday’s football action witnessed two spectacular games as teams tried to prove they were contenders and not pretenders. In the first game Doc’s United entertained the Albena lake Hodge Comprehensive School (ALHCS) Spartans in a lopsided affair. Doc’s United operated with precision like surgeons, eradicating any hope of success the Spartans may have thought of. In the first half Alexander Nwanzi (#7) opened the scoring with a goal. Doc’s United were not finished as Harold Ogolo (#10) scored a goal from a shot outside the box to put the medicine men up two goals to nil. His fellow teammate Jose Delacruz (#13) who has made a staple from his run throughs also scored.
The second half was reminiscent of the first as the medicine men continued to dominate. The consistent efforts and immense pressure left the school boys dazed as if they had just woken up from anesthesia. David Delacruz (#12) made a statement by scoring two goals to further uproot any hope of victory. As the game progressed Doc’s applied even more pressure. Consequently Alexander Nwanzi (#7) sealed the game with his second goal of the match. The game ended with six to nil victory for Doc’s United to put them back on the winning path.
In second game Kicks United put the unpredictable Spartans International to the sword. The game was rather tense as neither team budged on defense. However the fleet footed Kenny “K Pump” Williams (#7) with ornate flair opened the scoring with a bullet of a shot from outside the 18 yard box. Spartans International was not fazed but tried fighting with stout defense led by national defenders Romeo kelsick, Andy Griffith and Kevin Hawley.
Like protease degrading protein, Spartans International was broken by the spirited attack of Kicks United. The dynamic duo of Glenville “Marley” Allen (#10) and Kenny “K Pump” Williams (# 7) showed a of plethora skills as they mesmerized Spartans International. They showed why they are heavily feared as they sped and shredded the Spartans International defense. Glenville “Marley” Allen (#10) scored two other goals to bring his total to three for the game. His teammate Lance Lewis (# 4) also got in on the goal fest by sending home one of his own. The game culminated with a five to nil thrashing of Spartans International.
