Anguilla cricketers met the British Virgin Islands (B.V.I.) in a couple of 20/20 games over the weekend. Both matches were played at the Ronald Webster Park in The Valley Anguilla. In the first game on Saturday, 8, December, Anguilla racked up 159 from 20 overs for the lost of 3 wickets. Omari Banks top scored with 75 runs from 60 balls. In reply the B.V.I. fell 27 runs in their 20 overs, scoring 133 for 6.
On Sunday, the B.V.I batted first and were bowled out in the 17th over for a paltry 82 runs. Anguilla won by 5 wickets.
Both teams will be participating in the million dollar, Stanford 20/20 tournament scheduled to start on January 25th 2008, at the Stanford Cricket Ground in Antigua. The B.V.I. will get started on January 27 against Dominica. Anguilla faces Grenada in their first match on February 3, in the 8th match of the tournament. Should they be successful they will most probably face Barbados 12 days later.
