On Saturday the Anguilla national football team fortified by the addition of several UK based players entertained a 'best of the rest' squad in a warm up game in preparation for 2010 World Cup Qualification. From the onset the 'best of the rest' took control of the game with good ball movement and excellent off the ball running. Glenville ‘Marley” Allen and Kenny “K-pump” Williams caused havoc for the national team as they weaved through their spotty defense during the first half. Glenville ‘Marley” Allen struck first as he blasted home a goal sending the 'best of the rest' ahead one nil.

Lead by the creative midfield play of Kapple Assent and sturdy defense of Nigel Connor, Lester Connor and Gaekwad Sthilire, the 'best of the rest' continued attacking the national team. Eventually Melvin “Mello” Angle booted home the second goal for the "best of the rest" from a right side - low cross. Cognizant of the deficit, the national team tried counter attacking to thwart their advancing opponents. On several occasions they came close but were unable to convert any of their chances.

The second half seemed to signal a change in the national team as they played with increased urgency and  began using Gordon “Shamy” Benjamin more to spread the play. However, the effort never equaled results as the 'best of the rest' never relented, continuously applying more pressure. The fancy Kenny “K-pump” Williams got in on the action putting the 'best of the rest' ahead three nil. This sparked even more urgency in the national side, but the score remained unchanged - final score three nil.
