The Link Cycling Club of Anguilla (LCCA) hosted the first of several races planned for 2008. On Sunday17th February 2008, the cycling calendar opened with a warm up race in which 13 athletes participated. The grueling twenty laps around the hospital block was won by Danny Laud, second place went to Claude Richardson and third went to Godfrey Poledor. One fourteen year old proved he had the stamina and fortitude to keep up with the elite cyclist on the island. Other youngsters participating in the race performed incredibly.LCCA’s president, Mr. George Lake is appealing to the general public to be more supportive of the races, thereby supporting tomorrows generation. An appeal is also being issued to all members of the public with bicycles to join the LCCA on Saturday mornings while they explore Anguilla by bike (from 6:00am). The weekly event is not only good for the eyes, lungs and legs but it also benefits the entire cardiovascular system. Remember an ounce of prevention is better than all the modern medicine in the world, so do come on out every Saturday morning from 6:00am until.
