The Knock out football competition continued on the weekend as the Sunset Attackers engaged Docs United in a fierce battle on Saturday. The Attackers continued their fine style as they dominated play with good ball control and passes. This action resulted in six beautiful goals; however Docs United did not play dead. They stood up to the challenge and scored three wonderful goals of their own. One of them resulted from a goal keeping error. The game ended with a 6:3 victory for the Sunset Attackers.
On Sunday the Roaring Lions played Kicks United in a very intense physical battle. The game seemed evenly poised as both teams had scored an early goal. Following several minutes of sustained pressure the Roaring Lions scored as a result of a Tyrone “Sunkous” Benjamin corner. Shortly after the Lions struck as they scored again giving them a three goals to one lead. The physiological pressure must have been great as the Lions seem to do no wrong as they controlled the mid field, thwarting any potential attack by Kicks United.
Consequently the level of physical intensity increased as Tyrone “Sunkous” Benjamin was brought down by a ghastly tackle. Fortunately no serious injury resulted as Benjamin continued despite being bloodied by the tackle. With a lead of four goals to one, late in the second half Gaekward ST.Hilire a Lions forward was brought down by tackle. Unfortunately he was carted off the field after complaining of no feeling in his foot. The game ended with a 4:1 victory for the Roaring Lions. The Roaring Lions will now meet their arch rivals, the Sunset Attackers in the finals of Knock out competition, next week.
