Over the weekend a enticing football double header was played at the Ronald Webster Park annex. In the opening match Shinning Stars entertained Gazelles. Midfield generals Claudeena Richardson and Jaynelle Lake of the Shining Stars orchestrated potent waves of attacks which over time weakened the suspect defense of the Gazelles. Both midfielders distributed the balls to all sides of the field with little resistance. Attacking midfielder, Claudicia “Decci” Richardson out ran the Gazelles defense, putting goal keeper Ashley Richardson under enormous pressure.

A corner kick by Claudeena “Deena” Richardson resulted in an own by the Gazelles. Morihinzi Richardson also got in on the action by blasting a bullet into the back of the net leaving goalie Ashley Richardson wondering what happened. Jaynelle Lake’s ball control skills were shown as she headed a ball over the head of goalie Ashley Richardson who was working diligently to keep her team in the game. However, Krystie Webster was not prepared to roll over and let her team give up the fight. She out ran the Shining Stars defender and blasted a shot passed an outstretched keeper, Ester Ward. The final result was Shining Stars 3-Gazelles 1.

In the second match of the day Lil Soldiers played De Youngsters in a very physical match. Within a few minutes midfield sensations Katurah Caines and Melissa Anderson began directing ball traffic as police do for vehicular traffic. Both ladies ensured their striker Shelissa Williams did not abdicate her duties by giving her a plethora of passes. The overlapping play of the Lil Soldiers was most impressive and consequently it ruptured the seams of De Youngsters defense. However, poor finishing touches limited the number of goals scored by the Lil Soldiers.

Melissa Anderson also showed her dribbling prowess by mesmerizing De Youngsters defense. In one such play she made the defender think she was going to pass. No sooner the defender changed positions Melissa was off to races. The rather entertaining match finished with a score line of 2-0 in favor of Lil Soldiers. Goal scorers were Shelissa Williams and Melissa Anderson.
