Lil Soldiers Pound Super Stars - Mid Week AFFL Action

On Wednesday 11th April 2007, the Super Stars entertained the Lil Soldiers in what was dubbed as the most exciting match of the year. Unfortunately, the Super Stars did not show up with the mentality to play. The initial few minutes of the first half realized some stifling pressure from the Lil Soldiers on the Super Stars. Consequently defensive pillars Melissa Carty, Kadeema Hodge and Raquel Hazel of the Super Stars worked overtime to defend their goal. There efforts acted as a small dam restraining an ocean of water. Melisa Anderson of the Lil Soldiers opened her account by chipping a ball over the defender’s head and walking the ball into the goal.

The second half saw the advent of more aggression by the
Super Stars as Anguilla’s football phenom Melissa “Melly” Carty progressed to frontline. However that progression came with lots of punishment as she was kicked like a rag doll. Lil Soldiers counter attacked immediately catching Melissa Carty upfront and the defense lacking. Melisa Anderson walked in three goals, as the Super Stars goalie offered no resistance. Shelicia Williams of the Lil Soldiers also got in on the action by scoring an easy goal of her own. The Super Stars with heads hanging tried making every substitute possible but none brought success. With only a few minutes remaining in the second half Melissa Carty found the back of the net for Super Stars. The match ended with a score line of 5 (Melisa Anderson 4 , head being held by her coach, Shilicia Williams 1) –1(Melissa Carty) in favour of the Lil Soldiers.
