On Saturday, the Caribbean Commercial Bank cricket league got off to an auspicious start with the first match occurring between the Farrington and Cap Juluca. The Farrington captained by Terrance Adams (1st photo below-right) and veteran player Rudolph “Sarge” Proctor, were merciless as they pillaged their opponents.

Batting first Cap Juluca scored 142 runs with West Indies player Omari Banks top scoring with a stroke filled 64 runs. Anguilla national team and former Leeward Islands one day all rounder, medium pacer Terrance Adams was the pick of the Farrington bowlers as he took five wickets for 34 runs. He and fellow bowler Daniel “Dan Dan” Proctor were well supported by wicket keepers Travis Carter and Rudolph “Sarge “ Proctor. The latter showed why he was the fastest keeper in the west by stumping several Cap Juluca players.

The Farrington's opening batsmen strengthened their position on the game as opening batsmen Keith ‘Repeater” Carty (50 not out) and Lee Blanc (74 not out) put the Cap Juluca bowling attack to the sword. Both batsmen did not conceal the timber, as a bevy of strokes dispatched the Ashwin Desouza lead attack to all possible angles of the field. The Farrington won the match by 10 wickets.

On Sunday afternoon the ALHCS sparred against CuisinArt in another exciting match. CuisinArt batting first scored 111 from 20 overs. National team player and Leeward Islands all rounder Chaka Hodge top scored with 31 runs. His team succumbed to the wizardry of young left arm orthodox spinner Yannik Leonard. The spin-doctor wreaked havoc on CuisinArt as he finished with figures of 6 wickets for 18runs from 5 overs. ALHCS

Yannik’s teammate medium pacer Chermain Williams also made his presence felt with figures of 2 wickets for 27 runs from 4 overs. In reply the schoolboys batted with poise and confidence, as they were fearless of the Delano Mussington lead Cap Juluca attack. The schoolboys scored 114 for the loss of two wickets with Chesney Hughes caressing his way to a beautiful 40 not out. He was ably assisted by contributions of 19 from Randall Lake and 17 not out from Shredath Rey. Despite the efforts of spin sensation Chaka Hodge who had figures of 2 wickets for 18 runs from 6.3 overs, the schoolboys defeated CuisinArt.
