Anguilla were on the losing end of a 7:0 score at the Estadio Juan Ramón Loubriel in Bayamón Puerto Rico, on Wednesday against the host in their opening Group C match of Caribbean Women’s Under-17 qualification towards CONCACAF qualification for the FIFA under-17 women's World Cup New Zealand 2008.
Four of the winning goals were scored by Adriana Goiricelaya of Puerto Rico, with the others added by three of her teammates.
Caribbean Group C games continue on Friday (16 November) at the same venue, when Anguilla faces Bermuda. The triangular series concludes on Sunday (18 November) with Puerto Rico hosting Bermuda.
The Group C winner will join the first-place finishers of the other Groups (A & B) as the three Caribbean qualifiers to the 2008 CONCACAF Women’s U-17 Championship.
The CONCACAF tournament, with dates and venue to be determined, also includes Canada, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Mexico and USA. Three teams will qualify to the inaugural FIFA U-17 Women’s Cup New Zealand 2008.
