It was a wet, dark and dreary Tuesday afternoon, when the Roaring Lions and the Albena Lake Hodge Comprehensive School Spartans engaged in a football encounter. Both teams played cautiously on the soggy Webster Park Annex, and over aggression by both teams resulted in falls or sliding. As the first half continued the Lions began dominating the game but their efforts only resulted in one goal, which was scored by midfield sensation Gordon “Shamy” Benjamin (# 20).

Like true hungry kings of the jungle, in the second half, the Lions began suffocating the Spartans by keeping most of the play in their half of the field. Gordon “Shamy” Benjamin (# 20) showed his wizardry as he swept pass his opponents who could only stick out a foot to touch him. In one such play he dribbled passed three defenders and scored from inside the 18yard box with a thunderous shout to the near pole. Gordon “Shamy” Benjamin (# 20) then struck again like lightening.

A quick counter attack by the Spartans caught the Lions napping by their opponents’ goal. Consequently Chermain Charles (# 9) went streaking down the right side of the field and scored stunning their opponents.

The Lions shrugged off the goal and reverted to putting immense pressure on the Spartans. Soon the Lions stylish striker Jaden Abbot (# 5) booted a ball to the back of the net putting the Lions ahead 4:1. The highly educated feet of Gordon “Shamy” Benjamin (# 20) caused more havoc as he scored his fourth goal of the game from a shot to the far pole. By this point in the game the Lions were now up 5:1

With mounting pressure and a relentless opponent, the Spartans buckled scoring an own goal following several attempts at goal. Being true to their names the Lions continued working hard and they were rewarded for their efforts. Chad “the enforcer” Meldrum made his presence felt by as he scored the Lions 7th goal of the game. Lions won with a score line of 7:1.
