image The football mania continued on Sunday as two games entertained a small but appreciative crowd. In the first match the Albena Lake Hodge Comprehensive School (A.L.H.C.S) Spartans  played against Kicks United. The men from kicks wasted no time in dismantling the A.L.H.C.S Spartans and displaying their vintage flair. The dynamic duo of Kenny “K-pump” Williams and Glenville “Marley” Allen ran rough shot over their opponents with a combined total of five goals (4 from Kenny Williams and 1 from Glenville Allen). Denville Francis aka “fatty” the main stay of the midfield worked like a race horse and was given a just reward as he too scored. Despite periodic bursts of genius the Spartans lost the match with a score line of six nil.

The second match of the day was played between the Roaring Lions and the Spartans International. Showing all their fierceness the Roaring Lions struck first with a shot to goal from Jaden Abbot in the 18yard box. However the Spartans International did not relent and their efforts resulted in a penalty. Andy “Sour” Griffith scored the penalty, leveling the scores. This was the energy booster needed by his team. In the second half Mark “Markie” Richardson sent Spartans International ahead two goals to one.

Backed in a corner the Lions responded with crafty plays. Gordon “Shamy” Benjamin and Kapil Assent worked the midfield like it was theirs and mesmerized their opponents. The reward was a penalty on Spartans International and Tyrone “Sunkous” Benjamin converted it. With a level score the Lions continued gaining momentum and pressuring their opponents. Eventually the pressure did burst the pipe that was the Spartans International. It came when Kapil Assent drove home a shot that sealed the faith of the Spartans International. The game ended with a 3: 2 win for Lions.
