The sports department has worked really hard to rejuvenate the sport of Netball in Anguilla and according it appears they are off to a fantastic start. Recently young ladies from the six public primary schools performed admirably in an interschool competition.
The championship match between arch rivals Road and Stoney Ground Primary Schools was a close encounter as both teams were tough on defense and good on shooting. As the match came down to the last few minutes, only two points separated them. As the last minute dwindled to seconds, parents of both schools ran along the fence one group hoping for an extra point, the other hoping for a rebound. As the last shot stayed suspended in mid air for a few seconds, several people held their breath and some screamed for joy as Stoney Ground Primary got the rebound, while parents from Road Primary just tried to console their children. Some players cried from the agony of defeat while others screamed with joy, this is exactly the sort of medicine the sports doctor ordered to revive the once beloved sort of netball
